Between Worlds, 2024

24"x36"

Acrylic, Beads

It wasn't until I was more than halfway done with this piece that I realized I had made my dad - always hovering somewhere between worlds, collecting the wisdom of the stars in his head and heart. Black light reveals a different view.

The Transformation, 2024

24"x36"

Acrylic, Beads, Gold Leaf

This Goddess reveals her other life under black light.

Lilith, 2025

24"x36"

Acrylic, Beads, Modeling Paste, Textile, Mirror, Sequins, Found Objects

As I was looking up snake related names for this goddess, I came across Lilith, who in some ancient Kabbalah texts was said to have been the first wife of Adam, who would not submit to him and some suggest she might have even been the serpent who tempted Eve to accept the apple.

Another goddess who has different lives by day, candle, and black light.

Peace Within, 2024

16"x 20"

Clay, Fabric, Acrylic, Gold Leaf, Beads, Sequins, Milagros from Chimayo, NM

This piece materialized as a nodule in my lung set off a battery of tests from head to toe. Seeing scans of the constellation of inner workings, it struck me how little we truly know about the systems we are made of. When faced with these reminders of mortality, the simplicity of what's most important rises to the surface - peace for everyone, beginning within.

Paradise, 2024

20" x 20"

Acrylic, Textiles,Beads

I made this piece back in 2014 after a trip to Hawaii, only realizing it was an aerial view of the water and sunsets AFTER I finished it, but it never felt "done". Then I saw the incredible beaded works of the Ubuhle Women at the Bowers Museum and knew right away what it needed! Wall to wall beads! Another piece who has different lives by day, candle, and black light.
